TLT has advised British Solar Renewables Group on the acquisition of the 50MW ground mounted Swindon Solar Farm from Belectric Solar Limited.

The acquisition is one of the UK’s largest solar transactions so far this year and a significant addition to the portfolio of large scale solar PV projects developed by British Solar Renewables, which currently stands at in excess of 400MW .

Construction is well underway at the Science Museum Group’s Storage Facility, on the former ww2 airfield at Wroughton, and the project is due to be commissioned prior to the 31 March 2016 government deadline. Once completed it will provide the annual energy consumption of approximately 15,000 households.

The TLT team was led by corporate senior associate, Kay Hobbs and included real estate legal director, Kerri Ashworth; planning and development partner, Katherine Evans; tax partner, Nathan Williams; and commercial partner, Neel Mehta.

TLT’s Kay Hobbs said: “This latest acquisition further demonstrates British Solar Renewables Group’s goal to be at the forefront of the renewables sector.  We are delighted to have advised throughout the process, working to extremely tight deadlines with completion reached within just eight working days. The successful delivery of this transaction is testament to the strength and genuine commitment of the TLT and British Solar Renewables Group teams to the UK’s clean energy pipeline.”

David Peill, Commercial Director at British Solar Renewables said: “BSR is delighted to be leading on the construction and development of this fantastic project, and to be part of the team making the development a reality.”

This latest deal builds on TLT’s extensive expertise within the solar market. To date the team has been involved in getting over 2GW of solar projects either in the pipeline, contracted or built.
